- Secrets
- By
Peggy June
-
- My
grandchildren started school this week
- I
want them to like it so
- I
want them to love to read and draw and write.
- I
want them to learn to speak French.
- I
don't know why, exactly.
-
- It
just seems to me that if they can speak French
- They
will always be sophisticated, somehow.
- They
will know one secret that will be theirs forever
- No
matter what names they are called.
-
- And
one day, when they wonder why their grandmother
- Sent
them French tapes when they were little
- They'll
find this poem, and they'll know another secret.
