Thoughts of Love
By Peggy June

We're holding hands as we walk along the city streets.
The air is alive with fall breezes
Billowing his shirt, blowing my hair in my face.
He pulls me to him at a corner
Squeezes my shoulder, kisses the top of my head,
Says, "You're such a sugar."
I laugh and hug him back.
I wonder if he knows how much it means to me for him to do that.
I guess he does.
Thirty-two years is a long time to be married and not know.
Still, I should tell him.
