Title: What I Do on Bad Days

Author: Peggy June

I'm having a bad day.
I'm definitely not okay.
I broke my toy;
I don't enjoy
 Being yelled at
Just because I can't bat.

So here's what I do
You can do it, too.
I make a tent --
It doesn't cost a cent.
I make a "Keep Out!" sign,
And things turn out just fine.

Inside my tent, all nice and snug,
I put some books and a rug.
I read awhile and talk out loud
And make a speech to a pretend crowd.
I take some favorite "friends" in there
And we all comb our hair.

We talk about our troubles
And maybe blow some bubbles.
We might remember a very sad time
And we cry or make up a rhyme.
Whatever we do is up to us,
We can even pretend we're on a bus.

We can travel to lands across the sea,
And be whatever we want to be.
We might be dragons, or kings or chefs.
We might write music with treble clefs.
We like it alone, but it's always grand
When at last we come out to look over the land.
